How "well rounded" to make ANG resume?
I would recommend putting as much info as you can to sell yourself in the best possible light. Like you mentioned, certain things are either too detailed to merit real estate on your resume.
When you are improving on your resume, I would recommend approaching it from the mindset of “what’s going to set me apart from the competition…

Deployment Knowledge - Rushing/Interviewing
BogiDope Team,
When rushing your desired guard units, a tip I think will help you stand out from the competition is to have a strong working knowledge of the length and frequency of your potential unit’s deployment cycles. This can be found through online research or various other connections you may have.
Having this knowledge, or the desire…
Allgood1 CommentGreat points Austin!
Another tip is to try to find some common ground on a topic outside of work.
Think local sports teams, hobbies, current events, etc. If you can get a conversation that sparks interest that doesn’t have to do with flying and/or the J-O-B… It leaves an impression that you are someone who can bring some personality to…

MEPS/paperwork
Does it make sense to wait until getting a sponsorship from a squadron before filling out paperwork for MEPS or filling out the paperwork for the next pilot board? There is no benefit in doing those until one gets sponsorship somewhere, right? An AF reserve recruiter told me to start working on those items but i want to get sponsorship from…
I would strongly recommend waiting for sponsorship for your chosen method of military entry before filling out MEPS paperwork. Whether you are hired at a guard/reserve unit or go for an active duty pilot slot, that organization will present the MEPS paperwork for you at the appropriate time in that process. DM me if any…
1For what it’s worth, I worked with a Reserve recruiter and they sent me to MEPS in between my AFOQT and the TBAS. I’m not sure if that was normal, but it was nice to clear it just to know there were no basic medical issues. There is no commitment for doing the commissioning physical at MEPS, you’re not sworn in or anything of the sort.
The…
