The Dubai Airshow is one of the most unique aviation experiences I have ever had the pleasure of attending. While dropping off F-16s there in 2017, I was able to meet/watch both the Russian and Chinese fighter demo teams and also watch the Su-35 demo live. The thing that struck me was the “weapons market” mentality of the airshow. EVERY country was there to showcase/sell aircraft and weapons. The showcase by the Su-57 is the most recent attempt by Russia to break back into the international arms market after western attempts to bar them in the wake of Ukraine. Either way, pretty impressive!
