Battle for Fighter Procurement Intensifies in Congress
This is a pretty big deal! It isn’t every year that 20 ANG Generals get together and draft a letter to Congress about the state of their fighter fleets and concern over the pace of procurment. Operations such as Epic Fury, and the key role that airmen from both the ANG and AFRC have taken in providing manpower and iron downrange, has brought a renewed light to the problem set of smaller fighter fleets and longer procurement times for the Guard.
This is both. Good news, and bad news if you are an applicant looking to get hired by one of the 20 States on this list!
The bad news first; these States are in an active battle with Congress over the procurment , and perhaps promise, to recieve new fighters such as the F-15EX and F-35. It is hard for fighter units to plan retirements, training and new hiring around a schedule they don’t necessarily have control over.
The good news? These States are in an active battle with Congress over the procurment, and perhaps promise, to recieve new fighters. Sound familiar? Well, that is intentional. This is very much a glass hal-full scenario and there are a lot of people in very high places with this tactical problem front and center on their desks.
Interested to see how this places out!
