Just simply curious...
Why don't ANG/AFRC units just hire rated pilots? Would that not be a more cost and time efficient hire compared to a UPT selectee? What dictates a unit to open up for a UPT board or a rated board (or both at the same time)? I'm assuming it is a fiscal year budget based decision each year.
If you want to fly Raptors, one of the very rare Guard/Reserve F-22 UPT openings just went live! And if flying Raptors isn't cool enough, how about flying Raptors in Hawaii?
