Alternative Pilot Training paths?
I'm putting in applications to a variety of ANG units (MQ-9, C-130, OA-1K, etc...) but I'm too large to consider going through UPT in the T-6 or T-38. (Currently 6'7" and 300 lbs). I've already received my Commercial, Multi, and Instrument ratings and have just under 200 hours. Has anyone heard of an alternative training or direct to platform option?
Thanks for the post! I wouldn’t expect a “direct to platform” option ever as civilian training has merit in the aviation community but military aviation is vastly different. As far as options it’s tough to say because it is not sheer height but your sitting height so I’d get some more clarity on that. I know RPAs right now have a different training experience than what first started. I however am not 100% familiar with it so hopefully you can get some input from those folks. I would say keep pressing with the apps, talk to a flight doc if able for sure to get the clean yes or no. Things can be waived, good luck!

Augustus German keep pressing! This is a classic "make them tell you no" scenario. While some ejection seat limits top out around 6'5" and 250 lbs, waivers abound in this realm.
