A-10s have been impossible to kill. Whether you are an enemy on the ground or a US Congressman, killing the A-10 has proved to be next to impossible.
Congress is now pushing a bill forward to keep the A-10 funded through 2033 and based on some of the clauses in the bill, they are serious this time.
For example, not only does the Air Force need to find a viable replacement prior to divesting the A-10 but the defense secretary would have to get approval of the replacement platform in writing from the Army secretary, the Marine Corps commandant and the head of U.S. Special Operations Command!
In addition, the AF will need to present Congress with a plan to turn depot, the FTU and the Weapon School back on!

If interested in UPT, there will only be two options; The 76th Fighter Squadron (AFRC) at Moody AFB, GA. Or the 303rd Fighter Squadron (AFRC) at Whiteman, AFB, MO.

Congrats to another BD client, who was recently selected for a UPT slot at the 300th AS in Charleston! I have no doubt they'll be an awesome C-17 Co-Pilot in the near future.

If you don't long for the Viet-Nam days like Husky , you probably have noticed the internet is chocked full of "milfluencers". So who can you trust? Who is telling the truth? Who actually knows what they're talking about?
I found us a good one. Shawn "Motor" Walsh is a retired USAF F-16 pilot with a breadth of experience in both fighter and non-fighter operations. He is a retired squadron commander and was an excellent instructor. His content hits a little corny sometimes, but it is informative and pretty accurate. If you're looking for some more data points for a career or just entertainment, check him out.

This seems like a pretty common question that comes up with folks very early into the process of pursuing a military flying career. Especially with folks I meet in their early 20s, just starting college, and slowly discovering the opportunities out there. If this describes you, this question is a quick kill: NO, you DO NOT need a STEM degree to fly. You just need a Bachelor's degree from an accredited program. I personally majored in "Management" aka MBA light.
**As with any good declarative statement, there are caveats*****
If your career goal is to sit in the cockpit of experimental aircraft at Edwards Air Force Base, the playbook changes entirely.
To become a U.S. Air Force Test Pilot, the answer is a definitive yes—you absolutely need a STEM degree.
Which Majors Grade Out Best?
While any accredited STEM degree technically checks the container, the following majors align best with the TPS mission and better prepare you for the grueling academic load:
- Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical / Computer Engineering
- Physics
