Age-Specific Vectors
BD, we seem to get a lot of questions in DMs about the best way to approach mil aviation hiring after discovering the possibilities late in the game. With enough interest, maybe an open session regarding these issues in the future? Vote for the type of session you would be interested in joining.
I know i'm a random voice but i got signed up for this website specifically to hear more about what you can do if you unfortunately discovered a passion for aviation later in life (Mid/Late 20's). If you cant do a big session for a group of people i would greatly appreciate if you spoke to me about this, Thanks

I completely missed this when I made my post. I was hired by a unit. Then ran into trouble at MEPS and now when a medical waiver will be available, I will now need an age waiver.
Aside from just an open session, can we also maybe have a course or anything written down to perhaps show guard/reserve units?
Or Maybe a course on age waivers, that doesn't guarantee you will get one but gives you a good guide on trying. Similar to creating a resume/cover letter?
I know myself and many others are completely off the street. We don't have that military background and we don't know how to properly format or ask for things from the guard/reserve/AF. Or how to deal within inside the military.
This has been the one biggest concern that I have always had with my desire to become a pilot in the Air National Guard or Air Force reserve. When I first started looking at the military in college and was attempting the ROTC route, I just didn’t think I was ever going to be competition enough to get a flight slot for the Air Force or Navy because I was not always the best academically and my fitness scores were not always the top performers. That is why I initially looked at the army because I knew that with my lower scores, I still could have the opportunity to get an officer slot in a job field that I could at least still somewhat enjoy. Fast-forward a few years and I end up just enlisting in the army National Guard instead on a six year contract because they dangled an Afghanistan deployment in my face. After years and years of attempting the ROTC route, by the time I finally enlisted I was 26. I always had a passion for flying as my grandfather was Naval aviator in World War II and that always stuck with me. By the time I got through my contract with the army National Guard and started looking into this, I am now 33 years old. So with regard to the age in potential age waivers, that is a huge factor for me. At this point being 33 years old and halfway towards 34, I don’t even realistically think it’s possible. Having a discussion or at least informational posts with information regarding whether or not age waivers are even being considered or at least how the process might go in the current status of the Air Force would be very beneficial and at the very least help me personally get some closure as to whether or not it is too late and time to just give up my dream of being an aviator in the Air Force.
