Two types of relationships tend to survive UPT pretty well.

Solid marriages and solid singles

The middle ground is where it gets sporty.

Are we forever? Are we long distance? Are we moving together? How much time can I give this person when flying needs basically everything I have?

That ambiguity gets expensive fast.

A strong marriage can absorb the pipeline because everyone understands the deal. It’s short term pain. There’s trust, support, and shared purpose.

A solid single can also work. You’re mobile, focused, and if dating gets hard when flying ramps up, it can wind down without detonating your whole life.

But the in-between relationship needs to get vectored. Not necessarily rushed. But clarified.

IPT is longish. Then UPT. Then maybe the FTU. Then maybe another move. There will be seasons where you need to be 100% pointed at flying.

So be honest early.
