Introduction :)
Hello everyone! Just wanted to take a second to introduce myself as I am new to the community. I am currently an active duty Army aviation officer and have been flying UH-60's for a few years now. I have been thinking about making the transition to the Air Guard for a few years now and am finally able to work on this.
The biggest hurdle I have right now is my timeline in the Army. I just PCS'd and have a one year service obligation (July 2027) at the duty station I am at now- so I am hoping to obtain a UPT slot sooner rather than later so I can plan accordingly to cut The intent is to not have a break in service, or not a big one at least. Although it is crunch time, I hope that I am able to get something secured soon. With that, I have completed all testing and am ready to apply to some units.
I know a lot of units are asking that UPT candidates have a PPL but unfortunately I only bring my RW experience to the table (really hoping that does not hurt me). Truthfully, I am not seeking any particular platform, I would be happy with any as long as I still get to fly.

Hey Chris-Carlson , welcome to BogiDope! You're in the right place to help make this transition. The USAF does value PPLs for their candidates, but ALSO highly values military-trained aviators of any variety. Even RW, the basics of flight, learning, and procedures are there. I would view your background as an asset, not a liability moving forward.
