Selfridge on Target for F-15EX by 2028

For all you Midwestern boys and girls out there looking for a UPT slot in a Big Ten State; The 107th Fighter Squadron, 127th Wing at Selfridge is on track to receive their F-15EX fleet beginning 2028.

Selfridge Air National Guard Base is one of the oldest bases in the country, originally developed by the Packard Motor Car Company (Who would have guessed!) around 1916.

Cool history and all but why is it applicable to getting hired today? Well the base needs an extensive overhaul to support such a modern fighter; Beginning with elongating the primary runway by rerouting an entire State Highway!

Not to mention the millions of dollars worth of infrastructure changes and upgrades required to house everything from simulators, maintenance facilities and the jets themselves.

If you are watching for your opportunity to apply to one of the countries oldest ANG units and live your summers on the lake and your winters in the rink, I would be watching the progress of the base development closely, as this will inevitably affect your timeline!

Units in transition can offer a lot of opportunity! For those willing to “go where the job is”, this could be a fantastic way to become a Fighter Pilot and serve on the most up to date and relevant aircraft in the inventory!

D.J. Great point! Especially with a significant mission change like going from the Hawg to the Eagle. Some of the current flyers may not want to commit to the additional training required for the transition, which could lead to more openings!
