The Future of UPT

BD Fam,

Check out this article from Big Blue on the latest from the UPT arena.

https://www.aetc.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/4592999/beginning-with-the-basics-the-future-of-undergraduate-pilot-training/

I know most of you have been trying to follow the ever-changing landscape of pilot training over the past few years. Hopefully, this adds some clarity as the Air Force graduates the first few classes under the FUPT construct.

Cheers!

Thanks CHAOS! I'll add that we hosted a webinar earlier this year with two of the first students to go through the IPT and FUPT syllabi. You can find it under the "All Things UPT" section of the Video Vault. With their help, we also completely revamped Section 7 (Pilot Training) in the Pilot Pathway. The lessons are now titled 7.1 Intro to IPT, 7.2 Future Undergrad Pilot Training, and 7.3 Fighter Bomber Fundamentals & The B-Course.

This is a great resource for those of you who have recently been selected to ensure you are 100% prepared to start your Military Aviation career!

Read this article a few days ago and will be going through Section 7 of the BD Pilot Pathway soon to learn more. But one thing that is a little unclear to me about FUPT is how it affects the civilian side of things. As a non-ROTC civilian aviator and student, would I need to do this before I apply to units? Or do I get sent once I get picked up?

Twinkie

samuel-brumfield - Good question. IPT and the flow to FUPT is all taken care of for you after you are hired. No need to do anything prior to applying. Everyone will go through IPT as part of the USAF flight school curriculum regardless of previous flight experience. Hope this answers your question!

Cheers,

Twinkie

Twinkie definitely clears things up, appreciate it! P.S. I’ll be down in Jax in early November, super stoked to finally get down there. You kinda started that whole thing for me, so I appreciate ya!
