When's the Movie Coming Out?
Have any of you ever seen "Behind Enemy Lines" with Owen Wilson? Or is that just for the old folks in the room? Well...standby, because my money is on "Part 2" being produced soon. As someone who recently retired after 20 years of training for the exact "Bail-Out, Bail-Out, Bail-Out" scenario and how to Evade the enemy to affect your own rescue...I was captivated by this story. I know this is a few weeks old now, but I cannot wait to see the interview or read the book!
Someone made the comment to me (clearly not a military person) that they thought it was such a waste of money to lose C-130s and an A-10 in the rescue of a single pilot. That exact mentality is unfortunately way too common among folks that do not/have not served. The fact that our military dedicates an entire force package, mission qualification, and assets to execute the CSAR (combat search and rescue) mission is one of the things that set our military apart. "You put your life on the life, and we've got your back if something goes wrong." It's something that is indescribable. But it's something that enhances our capabilities. It was always such an honor to work with the Spec Ops and CSAR side of the house. God bless those troops!
