We’ve been working hard to get more data from the field but the bottom line is that flying training is really in a state of flux right now. If you feel like it’s rapidly changing and different base to base – I would say you pretty well understand it.
XPW is a pretty small program – you can search for it on the main page. You need quite a…

Found some interesting gouge on the internet that shed some light (see attached). It’s the USAF request for bids for IPT and it pretty well lays out what they’re looking for. Enjoy at your leisure.
Bottom Line: Sounds like a pretty fun flying summer camp. Looks like they’re trying to take you from 0 hours to multiengine + instrument in about…

Can't Book General Strategy Session. It Says All Dates Are Book For Everyone for
all of 2025. It doesn’t matter which coach I click on, every month of 2025, it claims all of the dates are booked. I’m assuming this is an error. I just wasn’t sure of who to contact about this, so I figure I would post it here as a heads up.

Recent UPT grad here. The program is called XPW (Accelerated Path to Wings), and it was primarily designed for pilots with prior experience. Unfortunately there may be a couple factors stacked against you getting into the program, most prominent that the T-1 is getting phased out. No idea when that will happen officially but XPW are the…

Hey everyone,
Im a pilot selectee in my senior year in ROTC and we’ve been hearing about the new training called IPT. I know it is primarily going through Columbus AFB at the moment and it is a longer training to get the multi engine ratings. Has anyone heard more about this or is currently going through IPT?
Thanks!

I am hoping to take this track, I know I will miss out on the fun of flying the T-6. However, every year T-1 instructors from Vance and Columbus visit my current base. I was able to spend a bunch of time talking with them and they encouraged me that the the T-1 only track for a heavy pilot is the way to go. They are confident in the…

I will caveat this with I did not do T-1s. However, the military will teach you everything you need to know. Even if you went T-6s first, you will still get to T-1s without the multi-engine knowledge. I would save your money and let them teach you what you need to know. Going straight to T-1s will actually probably help you as a lot of…

Hey y’all, got a question for the group. Can anyone speak to joining a heavy unit and going to UPT only doing the T-1 track and skipping T-6 altogether? What is that like and how difficult is it?
I am currently applying to some heavy units and have heard that this is happening in certain situations. My concern is that all of my flight time is…
