Thanks for the reply Nico, and well said! Rushing can definitely be cumbersome, and your first time at the squadron can certainly be intimidating and awkward. The biggest thing is don’t try to hard and don’t try to little. Ultimately, being yourself, having a few meaningful conversations, and being likable are the keys to success.

Something I wasn’t prepared for and what I think can be a good discussion point is just how awkward and out of place you can feel while rushing. It makes sense: you’re walking around a tight-knit squadron filled with experienced professionals in their field, and you’re essentially the nobody that doesn’t know much of anything yet. I’ve had a…

Hello!
I’ve been trying to stay up to date on all the changes the Air Force is experiencing (as many of us are). I have a couple of questions in regard to Helo’s, if anyone can chime in. Correct me if I am wrong on anything I mention.
I’m assuming all pilot selects go to IPT, even rotary? Is it after IPT completion that you get sent to UHT? In…
Hey Austin,
Take all this with a grain of salt, as I’m a recent select who’s still figuring stuff out but is this in reference to Guard/Reserve or Active Duty? For Guard/Reserve you would know what airframe you’re flying, so there would be no need to track Helo. Instead there’s an IPT-R in Dothan for helicopters, and then it’s Rucker to fly the…

Hi everyone,
This is my first post and I just wanted to gauge everyone’s opinion on something core to me.
I have a fair level of skydiving experience (1300 jumps) with over half of those being instructor jumps split between tandem and accelerated freefall. For background, I’m considered part-time weekend staff at the drop zone and work my…
Kuet, your experience as a skydiver is no factor to units hiring now. In fact, its probably a positive factor because it is aviation-adjacent and involves complex decision making in a stressful environment. There are over a dozen fighter pilots I know personally with the same experience (800+ jumps w/ AFF instructor exp).
The obvious caveat…
