AFOQT scheduling
Hey all, any advice on how to get scheduled for the AFOQT and the TBAS? I’m a civilian non-rotc and am having trouble with unit specific recruiters and local recruiters in that non of them have a lot of info nor can get me scheduled. I’ve been waiting and trying to get a scheduled for a few months and I’ve had little luck. If you guys have any suggestions or know anyone that can help, that would be greatly appreciate!
I was in the same boat as you are a few months ago.
First, make sure you are contacting an officer recruiter specifically. Second, expect to contact multiple officer recruiters (AFAIK, it does not matter if the officer recruiter is local to you or not). In my experience, they do not prioritize civilians off the street that are not enrolled in some ROTC program or such, so expect to keep pestering them about the test; I had to message over a handful of times before I got an answer. All you need is the AFOQT voucher code from them, and after that, the ball is in your court to schedule and take the test at a certified PearsonVUE center.
Regarding the TBAS, you will have to contact a certified testing center and schedule the test yourself. I took my TBAS at an Air Force installation, to which point the test proctor will sponsor you for temporary base access. One of my previous students had good luck using this method, regardless of whether you want to go Active Duty Air Force, Space Force, Air Force Reserves, or Air National Guard:
1) Emailing an active duty recruiter: brittney.crusoe@us.af.mil or find one in your area at: https://www.airforce.com/find-a-recruiter and clicking Officer Recruiter.
2) You will likely get an automated email outlining when there is a webinar (held on Microsoft Teams) to explain these programs.
3) After you attend the webinar, you will fill out a pre-qualification worksheet.
4) This should allow you to get a voucher for the AFOQT.

No luck getting an automated email from Miss Crusoe.
Previous attempts were reaching out to my local AFB testing center directly (they said I need to have a recruiter reach out on my behalf to schedule), and my local officer reserve recruiter wanted a verbal commitment to the reserve side before even the hint of helping me. Next up is reaching out to a couple in-state ROTC units. Got to love the process.

SMAX Yessir, got the coveted automated email Tutor-Gunboss was talking 2 days ago. I'm pretty sure I got it after completing the application process through the Air Force recruiter website, specifically stating interest for the active duty side. Got no response stating interest in the ANG side but thought it couldn't hurt to send the app twice. A few days later, I got a call from an "advisor" who asked me a bunch of questions about my past. Then I received the automated email to fill out another application. Had to spend about 3 hours answering all the personal life questions and collecting pictures of all my docs (they only accept pdf form...), but finally got to the page to schedule my AFOQT.
There's a small chance I received the email from my local active duty officer recruiter, but I had emailed her individually way before and never heard back, so for anyone else trying to schedule, I'd go with the AF recruiter website "apply now" stating interest in active duty and then wait a few days hoping for that advisor call. Worked better than reaching out to ROTC units, test centers, reserve officer recruiters, and several active duty recruiters. Cheers.
I had issues with this also while going through the process - you can try and reach out to local university ROTC detachments directly and see about scheduling with them. All they required was an email from any unit requesting it. In this case I had the chief pilot send an email and they got it all scheduled.
