After 45 days at sea, the Captain of a vessel can request a morale boosting Beer Day.

Smack-Meier This may be the most LPA thing I've ever seen...presumably with the help of AI. In case you all were wondering, this is EXACTLY the kind of stuff that the old flightsuits expect (hope) the Lt's come up with for the next roll-call. Great stuff.

Hey everyone!

My name is Luke and I’m a 22-year-old recently retired triathlete from CT. I’ve spent the past six years racing on the world stage and am incredibly grateful for the opportunity I had to wear the Stars and Stripes. I’m hoping to continue representing the U.S. in a more impactful, service-driven capacity as a pilot in the ANG.

I’ll be graduating next spring with an undergrad in Human Systems Engineering (3.6 GPA) and hope to be ready to submit applications by January of ’27. As for flying experience, I’m about 30 hours into my PPL and am loving the process.

While I remain open to all locations and airframes, I would love to fly F-35s on the East Coast and eventually take a role in CCA development (given my academic background). Not sure if this is feasible in terms of workload, but I would be interested to hear how current/former ANG pilots have managed technical or defense-adjacent civilian roles outside of traditional airline careers.

If there are any coaches or community members with an athletic background, I would love to chat! I want to carefully consider how I frame my story in applications and interviews—specifically how the characteristics of high-performance athletics translate into unit culture and the cockpit.

Seems like the joint force (USAF, USN, USMC) is quietly trying to put together a family of exquisite air-to-air weapons with longer range. With this third new missile, it looks like the operational timeline of fielding will fit very nicely with BogiDope members who are applying to jobs RIGHT NOW! So get those apps tight to have a shot at ripping one of these with that Bob Marley WEZ!

BD Fam,

Check out this article from TWZ as they look towards the future of jet engine production.

It's safe to say automation isn't just part of the operational strategy; we're seeing it become a huge focus on the production and maintenance side of the house.

Cheers!

How do you stop a hypersonic weapon? Right now that’s a great question. As weaponry moves forward we’ll always have to create away to combat it. Majority of the time the offense comes before the defense; you don’t know what you need to defend against until it comes at you.

Happy Friday BD! I’ll be online today so let me know if you have any unanswered questions I can help with!

Hello everyone! Just wanted to take a second to introduce myself as I am new to the community. I am currently an active duty Army aviation officer and have been flying UH-60's for a few years now. I have been thinking about making the transition to the Air Guard for a few years now and am finally able to work on this.

The biggest hurdle I have right now is my timeline in the Army. I just PCS'd and have a one year service obligation (July 2027) at the duty station I am at now- so I am hoping to obtain a UPT slot sooner rather than later so I can plan accordingly to cut The intent is to not have a break in service, or not a big one at least. Although it is crunch time, I hope that I am able to get something secured soon. With that, I have completed all testing and am ready to apply to some units.

I know a lot of units are asking that UPT candidates have a PPL but unfortunately I only bring my RW experience to the table (really hoping that does not hurt me). Truthfully, I am not seeking any particular platform, I would be happy with any as long as I still get to fly.

If anyone has any Army to Air Force insight, would love to hear about it!

Happy to be a part of the community and look forward to seeing awesome updates on here!

Howdy, my name is Daniel, and I am new to BogiDope. I am making this post looking for some guidance and opinions regarding a good path to flying fighters and whether or not obtaining a UPT position is viable. First and foremost, I understand that obtaining a seat such as this is extremely competitive and difficult. With that said, here some facts about me.

24 Years Old.

College Baseball Player for 3 years

Total Collegiate GPA of 3.1

Selected for an SNFO (Student Naval Flight Officer) slot with the United States Navy. I have replied to this offer declining this position and will be resubmitting as an ISEL candidate for SNA (Student Naval Aviator- PIC). My Aviation Selection Test Battery (ASTB) scores were 6/7/7. The immediate select criteria will require an ASTB score of 7/7/7 or better. I will be retesting and can confidently exceed my previous score. I have discovered the proper study material to achieve scores in the 8s and 9s (test is scored up to 9)

B.S. Aviation Management

Will have an associate's degree in aviation flight at the conclusion of this semester.

My flight training has all been done at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale which is a Part 141 flight school. I will have a multi engine rating at the conclusion of this semester with approximately 250 flight hours. I was approved to obtain my instrument rating immediately after obtaining my PPL. I received the instrument rating right at 100 flight hours (+/- 5 flight hours).

I am aware that I need to take an AFOQT, and I am confident that I can receive scores in the 90s as I am a good test taker and can locate good study material. I understand that GPA is going to be my largest concern for being competitive for guard unit. The advice I am looking for is whether or not I should pursue an active-duty commitment with the Navy and try to obtain a fighter seat (given the needs of the Navy). After this, I could try and obtain a guard unit position with prior experience. My other scenario is to try and pursue a guard unit with the experience that I have and try and use a prior OCS offer as a selling point. I have no interest in flying for airlines at any point and want to fly for the military in whatever capacity that is, potentially deliver international aid after a military career.

What path seems to make the most sense to all of you? Thank you for any help.
